In HETEL´s working group dedicated to dual VET we have been discussing

possible ways of shared apprenticeship schemes combining traineeship in local
companies with traineeship in companies abroad. The reason is that with the

increase of the number of students in the dual system, there are less students
available to participate in mobility programmes, as they are somehow forced to

choose between having a real based training and high possibilities to get a job in
their region (dual VET) and going abroad to have an international experience with
all its positive impact at the personal and professional level. We haven't arrived at a

conclusion on how this could be solved but we did commit to start next academic
year with a small number of students who would do their dual VET partially in the

Basque Country and partially abroad, starting for those students in companies
which have a branch abroad. We are also planning several meetings with the

Basque Department of education to start these pilot experiences.
