The Current State of Play (UK)

As we progressed through the DELTA project, we identified that some countries

were further ahead than others regarding collaborative or shared apprenticeship
schemes. With this in mind, we decided to provide information on current

collaborative apprentice schemes and how they are structured in the UK, whilst
also investigating what barriers our hurdles would stop similar schemes being
launched in partner countries where such schemes were not in place.

The UK has a number of collaborative apprenticeship schemes across its regions,

areas and industries, however the majority sit within the construction sector.
Different geographic regions have their own particular schemes including:

Yprentis - covering construction trades in South East Wales

Shared Apprenticeships - covering construction trades in South West England

CoTrain - covering construction trades in South East England

Evolve - covering construction trades in London

Cyfle - covering construction trades, business and administration, and technical

and higher apprenticeships in South West Wales

Trac - covering construction trades in the East of England

Shared Apprentice - covering construction trades in the Tayside and Angus area
               of the East of Scotland

For the purposes of this document, we are going to concentrate on Shared
Apprentice however many of the other schemes in the UK are setup using a

               similar method.
